Hello! I’m Dacey Black!
I’m an experienced performing vocalist and vocal coach. My students learn to transform their tone and hone their vocal control through my lessons’ focus on vocal physiology, performance techniques, the physics of sound, and artistic development. It’s my philosophy that if you know what you have and how it works, you can do whatever you want with it! I give students the tools and confidence they need to connect with their voices and bodies to design performances and apply solutions to problems in real time.
WORK WITH ME TO…
Enhance your live shows with lessons on live microphone and self-accompaniment techniques, live sound mixing, and performance techniques
Elevate your songwriting with lessons on songforms, lyrical structures, harmonic techniques, vocal tone and expression
Become independent by learning how to engineer, record, mix, and master your songs!
Gain artistic freedom through a conscious connection to your physiology and the knowledge to manipulate tone to confidently express your artistic vision.
Learn to sing for hours with power without damaging your voice!

More about me :)
-
I began my journey at 9 studying and performing Rock and R&B vocals, piano and guitar with the School Of Rock Baltimore. In high school, I studied Operatic Vocal Pedagogy and Classical Music Theory at The Baltimore School for The Arts, a conservatory preparatory arts school.
In 2023, I graduated The Berklee College of Music with a BA in Professional Music with Concentrates in Music Business, Music Production, and Music Production where I studied under scholarship as a Vocal Principle.
I am an autodidact and firm believer in continued education. I have gained a great deal of pedagogical knowledge through self-lead research on vocal anatomy, physiology, and niche topics like harsh vocal techniques.

I have experience teaching both in-person and online music lessons and specialize in vocal performance and technique.
I began my teaching career online, teaching a few students through zoom during the pandemic while studying at Berklee.
During this time, I started coaching my peers during their vocal recording sessions and helped them design their ideal performances.
Since 2023, I have been working with the School of Rock at two locations as a Co-Director for youth rock music performance programs and a Vocal and Piano Instructor for kid and adult students.

It is my mission to provide my students with an understanding of and connection to their own physiology and acoustics so that they have tools to creatively and independently shape their tone while maintaining healthy practices.
Throughout my time in high school, I faced pushback from my opera teachers who believed that learning classical and continuing my contemporary studies would be detrimental to my progress as classically trained singer. They were convinced that the techniques were completely different. I found that this couldn’t be farther from the truth.
I learned to bridge classical and contemporary pedagogical styles by studying vocal anatomy and physiology. With this knowledge I am able to connect vocal tones to specific physical functions.
